Food Stamps

Over the past 40 years, politicians, policymakers and concerned community members have signed-up to take the Food Stamp Challenge—living for one week on an average food stamp budget– to better understand what it is like to live on a very limited food assistance allotment.  For this assignment, you have three options to experience this assignment: You will take part in a shortened version of      the SNAP (food stamp) challenge.  In this activity, you will try to      live on food stamp (SNAP) budget for one weekend (Friday night dinner, Saturday      breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sunday breakfast, lunch and      dinner).  The average SNAP budget for a single person for one weekend      is: $11.00.   For a family of four, the SNAP budget is $44.00      ($4.40 per person per day). Remember your budget needs to cover all      items, even snacks and beverages. If you choose this, please just take the      challenge yourself — do not include roommates or other family members in      the challenge unless they choose to take part and are over age 18.       Record your menus, include an ingredients list and the price of each      ingredient on your shopping list. After you finish the challenge, write-up      your results.  Your write-up needs to include:  Your menus, an      itemized list of the ingredients you used (actual or hypothetical) with      their prices and the total amount you (would have or actually)      spent.  Then write a 1-2 page reflection about what you learned from      this exercise and how it connects to our course      materials.  Please reference at least 3 course materials in your      reflection. Take a hypothetical challenge.  Go to a      grocery store (or multiple stores if you need to) and “shop”      hypothetically for a family of four for one weekend.  Record the      menus your imaginary family ate, a shopping list of ingredients and the      prices these ingredients would have cost.

Investigate the background of the SNAP program through research. Find out how it got started, why the monthly allotments were set for what they are, and what people can (and cannot) buy using SNAP. Write up a 2-3 page research paper from what you found. Use APA style and reference at least three peer-reviewed resources

1. In general

1. In general, the role of the financial manager is to plan for the acquisition and use of funds so as to maximize the value of the firm.
2. The disadvantages associated with a proprietorship are similar to those under a partnership. One exception to this is due to the formal nature of the partnership agreement and the commitment of the partners’ personal assets. As a result, partnerships do not have difficulty raising large amounts of capital.
3. The current ratio and inventory turnover ratio measure the liquidity of a firm. The current ratio measures the relation of a firm’s current assets to its current liabilities and the inventory turnover ratio measures how rapidly a firm turns its inventory back into a “quick” asset or cash.
4. Selling new stock is an equity transaction; it does not affect any asset or liability account and therefore, does not appear on the statement of cash flows.
5. Financial asset markets deal with stocks, bonds, mortgages, and other claims on real assets with respect to the distribution of future cash flows.
6. The existence of financial intermediaries greatly increases the efficiency of financial markets because, without them, savers would have to provide funds directly to borrowers, which would be a much costlier process.
7. Of all the techniques used in finance, the least important is the concept of the time value of money.
8. The difference between an ordinary annuity and an annuity due is that each of the payments of the annuity due earns interest for one additional year (period).
9. The nominal rate of interest is defined as the sum of the nominal risk-free rate of return and the expected inflation rate.
10. An investor with a six-year investment horizon believes that interest rates are determined only by expectations about future interest rates, (i.e., this investor believes in the expectations theory). This investor should expect to earn the same rate of return over the 6-year time horizon if he or she buys a 6-year bond or a 3-year bond now and another 3-year bond three years from now (ignore transaction costs).
11. There is an inverse relationship between bond ratings and the required return on a bond. The required return is lowest for AAA rated bonds, and required returns increase as the ratings get lower (worse).
12. Although common stock represents a riskier investment to an individual than do bonds, in the sense of exposing the firm to the risk of bankruptcy, bonds represent a riskier method of financing to a corporation than does common stock.
13. The book value per share is computed by taking the sum of common stock, additional paid in capital, and retained earnings and dividing the number by the number of shares outstanding.
14. When management controls more than 50% of the shares of the firm, they must be concerned with the potential of a proxy fights than can lead to takeovers of the firm and the replacement of management.
15. Assume Stock A has a standard deviation of 0.21 while Stock B has a standard deviation of 0.10. If both Stock A and Stock B must be held in isolation, and if investors are risk averse, we can conclude that Stock A will have a greater required return. However, if the assets could be held in portfolios, it is conceivable that the required return could be higher on the low standard deviation stock.

16. The primary goal of a financial manager should be to __________.
a. minimize operating costs
b. minimize interest payments
c. minimize tax payments
d. maximize operating income each year
e. maximize the value of the firm’s stock
17. Which of the following statements about the corporate form of business organization is incorrect?
a. The corporation is the easiest form of business organization to establish.
b. In the United States, corporations generate a significantly greater percentage of total annual sales than either partnerships or proprietorships.
c. Corporations generally are larger than either partnerships or proprietorships.
d. One of the most important features of the corporate form of business organization is that stockholders have limited liability.
e. None of the above.
18. Other things held constant, if a firm holds cash balances in excess of their optimal level in a non-interest bearing account, this will tend to lower the firm’s
a. Profit margin.
b. Total asset turnover.
c. Return on equity.
d. All of the above.
e. Answers b and c above.
19. Bubbles Soap Corporation has a quick ratio of 1.0 and a current ratio of 2.0 implying that
a. the value of current assets is equal to the value of inventory.

FINC615 Unit2

Respond to the following scenario with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. Be substantive and clear, and use research to reinforce your ideas.

In anticipation of Mary’s request for comparative analysis, it will be useful at this time to do some research. You know that you can obtain the financials of companies within the same sector or Standard Industry Code as Apix Printing (e.g., commercial printing), and that the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Standard Industry 2012 code for Apix Printing is presently 323111.

Use the FINC615 Library Guide (https://careered.libguides.com/university_CTUOnline/accounting#s-lg-box-13344124)

to search for two other companies in the same industry as Apix Printing.

When you get to work the next day, you see the following e-mail from Mary: Here is the list of financial ratios you asked for. I need you to explain the computation of each and compute these for Apix’s results for the financial statements you are using for the PowerPoint presentation. Also, compare Apix’s 2-year trend results to that of two other firms in the sector. Indicate how each of Apix’s ratios differ, and indicate whether the two other companies’ ratios or Apix’s ratios are indicative of better performance.

Explain the computation for each of the following, and compute each for Apix and two other companies in the same industry as Apix Printing: Current ratio  (Long-term) debt to equity ratio  Gross margin percentage  Net profit margin percentage  Return on equity percentage

Present your findings of the above data in a table. Add a paragraph that summarizes your results, indicating whether investors would find the financial analysis results of Apix competitive as compared to rivals in the sector. Be sure to include both positive and negative trends in your analysis.

Please no plagiarism and make sure you are able to access all resource on your own before you bid. I need this completed by 10/21/17 at 12pm.

Application: Applying Theoretical Interventions for Clients Experiencing Life Transition and Developmental Issues, Part II

Marriage, couple, and family counselors have varying caseloads. What they all have in common is that their group of clients—whether large or small—represents the variety of human experience. Even those counselors with a specific clinical focus see variety in the ways in which specific issues manifest in different relationships. Part of the goal of your counseling program is to expose you to varying scenarios so that when you are faced with differing client situations, you will have the evidence-based research knowledge, flexibility, analytical skills, and theory-integration practice to know the best course of action to take with a particular couple or family.

To prepare for this Application Assignment, select and view one movie from the list provided in this week’s Learning Resources. Begin to conceptualize the couple’s or family’s problem through your theoretical orientation and identify interventions that you might use. Finally, begin to locate articles in the Walden Library that could be used to justify the interventions you selected.

The assignment (2–3 pages) Identify the movie you selected and the life transition/developmental issue present in the couple/family. Conceptualize the couple’s/family’s problem through your chosen theoretical orientation. Describe two interventions you would use to address these couple/family issues and how you would use them. (Note: The interventions may not emerge from your chosen theoretical orientation.) Justify the intervention you selected with two evidence-based research articles.

Support your Application Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are asked to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.

Submit your assignment by Day 7.
